Patrícia Iglésias was born in Oporto, on 24 October 1977.
Her first steps in Jewellery started in 1992 at Escola Secundária Soares dos Reis.
In 2000 she graduated at Faculdade de Belas Artes do Porto, with a degree in Sculpture. At the same time, she got a jewellery qualification at the Oporto Jewellery Centre, where she later became a teacher.
She also passed on her knowledge to the students of Escola Secundária Soares dos Reis in 2002-03, where she monitored the Technological Jewellery Programme.
She has won many awards in national competitions: 1st prize in the creativity competition “Fabricarte”, in Matosinhos, an honourable mention in the “25… years, artists, works, April”, competition held by the Jewellery, Invention and Art School of Oportoand was shortlisted during a competition called “Young Creators”.
She has participated in several workshops, run by people such as Filomeno Pereira de Sousa, Sabine Hauss, Harold O’Conner and Otto Kunzeli.
As a freelancer, from 2000, she has participated in many exhibitions and competitions in Portugal and abroad – Milan, Rotterdam and Barcelona – and has developed different projects concerned with the conception and design of Jewellery and Bijouterie, in collaboration with entreprises such as Splendoro, Parfois, Flamingo.
During her time working with bijouterie, she established relationships with Indian suppliers and for two years produced collections in Delhi, India.
In 2006 she spent two months in New York doing an internship at a Jewellery company called I.T.S. Design (which works in colaboration with American Jeweler David Yurman).
In 2007/2008 she lived in São Paulo, while doing post-graduatation studies in Strategic Design at the European Design Institute IED and, whilst in Brazil, undertook a course at the IBGM Institute about learning to identify colour gems and diamonds.
Due to her experience throughout the years, when this designer came back to Portugal, she felt the urge to register her brand at a European level. And that was how, in 2009, the brand IGLEZIA was born, with its digital arm: iglezia.theonepixel.com and www.facebook.com/iglezia.
In 2012 she took part in her first fair in Paris – ECLAT DE MODE – at the Portuguese Jewelery and Watch-Making Association’s stand.
At the end of 2012 , Patrícia had her first child and, due to her husband’s work, in 2013 the family emigrated to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she enjoyed two years as a full-time mum.
During that time, she took part in some courses, such as “The Creative Process” with Charles Watson, EAV – Parque Lage, Rio de Janeiro; and the tendencies and behaviours “MOOD” course, at the Perestroika School in Ipanema, Rio de Janeiro.
In 2015 the family returned to Portugal and Patrícia revived the IGLEZIA brand, refreshing her website and creating an online store.
